Ibobi trumpets sports, culture

Chief Minister O Ibobi has stated that Manipur is known for its thriving sporting tradition and rich cultural heritage.
He was speaking at a commemorative function of the twin idols of Shree Shree Radha Madhav at Ningthoukhong today.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Chief Secretary Oinam Nabakishore attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
While there is a temple of Govindajee at Imphal, there are sacred shrines of Shree Shree Gopinath and Shree Shree Radha Madhav at Ningthoukhong and there is a growing need to develop the sacred shrines of Ningthoukhong, Ibobi stated.

Pointing out that not a single iron nail was used in building the centuries old mandop, Ibobi maintained that it would attract interest among foreign as well as domestic tourists.
Noting that almost all tourists who visit Manipur always reach Bishnupur district, Ibobi declared that the temple complexes of Shree Shree Gopinathjee and Shree Shree Radha Madhav would be developed and beautified to a world class level.
He further declared that the Ningthoukhong market complex would be constructed anew.
Govindas Konthoujam stated that the temples of Shree Shree Gopinathjee and Shree Shree Radha Madhav would be developed as pilgrimage sites cum tourist spots.
O Nabakishore asserted that Ningthoukhong must play a significant role in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Manipur.
The function also featured many dance and music programmes.
