He recounted that there was a widespread demand from different political parties, civil society organi- sations to call a special session of the State Assembly and work out a solution to the crisis but the same never happened.
Saying that summoning the House, though late, as per the rule is welcomed by the Congress party, Meghachandra maintained that they will table the aspirations of the people in the form of unstarred questions, short duration discussion, calling attention, private member resolution etc and hold discussion on it.
He further said that a meeting of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) was held recently and matters which will be raised by the five MLAs during the House session were discussed.
The Congress party will also draw the attention of the House on the violence at Churachandpur, Moreh, Sugnu, Imphal etc.
Continuing that they will also table a private member resolution on the meeting summoned at Kangla Fort on January 24, the MPCC chief said that it is up to the Government to hold a discussion on this or not.
Holding Assembly sessions is very important in a democratic country like India, Meghachandra main- tained while expressing desire to set aside at least one day to discuss only the Manipur violence during the Assembly session.
Meghachandra further said that the Congress party wants live telecast of the House proceedings in the interest of the people.
