Solam self help group of S Moljol village in Moreh sub-division has formally established S Moljol Ceramic Industry to manufacture charcoal heater (Meiphu).
The Industry was officially inaugurated this morning by chairman of ADC/DRDA, Chandel Lhukhosei Zou at S Moljol village which was followed by a public meeting in which the locals affirmed to make the industrial unit a successful venture, compatible with similar products from across the international border.
Applauding the vision and efforts of Solam SHG for such a path-breaking initiative, Lhukhosei exhorted the local artisans to strive for excelling in their field of profession through vigorous dedication and hardwork.
Noting that presently charcoal heaters made in Myanmar are being bought in large number by people of Manipur from Namphalong market, he suggested that setting up of a permanent shop at Moreh town will boost sale of the S Moljol product.
Sibong constituency ADC member Ch Ngamthang Mate who also addressed the gathering, said that Solam SHG is an exception in Moreh block for a number of SHGs exist merely for availing financial assistance from the Government.
Pointing out that economic activities by these SHGs could make a difference in the financial position of the State, he also expressed that with the restoration of ADC institutions in Manipur past instances of embezzling development fund by Department officials is no more the norm.
Ngamthang also urged his ADC colleagues to remain vigil and work for the betterment for people in their respective villages.
