Imphal, August 25 2019:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has categorically stated that no solution should be sealed between Government of India (GoI) and NSCN-IM without first disclosing the details of the Framework Agreement signed between the two sides on August 3, 2015 to the public.
Speaking to media persons at their office this afternoon, UCM president Sunil Karam urged all the legislators of the State to reaffirm the resolutions adopted earlier by the Manipur Legislative Assembly with regard to the protracted political dialogue going on between GoI and NSCN-IM.
He asserted that the same resolutions must be re-endorsed during the two-day nState Assembly session which begins tomorrow.
Saying that no official communication has been received from the Government of India regarding its purported intent to seal a final solution to the Naga peace talk, Sunil Karam said that any solution worked out between the two parties based on the Framework Agreement without consulting all stake holders would not be acceptable.
He also reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurance that no final solution would be sealed without first consulting all stake holders.
Saying that the people of Manipur have a strong suspicion that the Framework Agreement might have something which may disintegrate Manipur or sow seeds of disintegration in future, the UCM president urged all the legislators to reaffirm the State Assembly's resolution to safeguard the integrity of Manipur at all costs and under any circumstances.
The new resolution which reaffirms the past resolutions must be sent to the GoI and the State Government must act in line with the people's pulse, he added.
