CSOs launch 'Green Koubru' drive

The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and several other clubs and organisations have launched campaigns to plant trees on Mount Koubru today.
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation kicked off its campaign from its office today.
Its president Ph Nando Luwang and Mahousa Kanba Lup president Dodo Luwang flagged off the volunteers.
Several teams were formed and they were flagged off batch-wise.
They will plant trees on Mount Koubru and "trace the footsteps of our forefathers", said AMUCO officials.
Representatives and members of several clubs and organisations, including children and women are participating in the campaign.
A team of AMUCO, flagged off yesterday, are already stationed at the foothill of Mount Koubru to make necessary preparations, they said.
Similarly, an 18-member team of the Social Cultural Education and Sports Development Organisation, Thoubal district have also left for Mount Koubru.
The team is headed by the organisation's president Kh Sharat, vice president Kh Nandabir (Chinglen) and Kh Prafullo of Heirok Nagar Panchayat Ward No 7 .
The team was flagged off from Heirok Keithel today.
The aim of the campaign is to plant trees on Mount Koubru and preserve its environment, said Kh Nandabir.
He also appealed to the people, who visit Mount Koubru for pilgrimage, and tourists to water the plants.
It may be noted that the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and Poirei Eethiba Lup (PEEL) had also launched similar campaigns at Mount Koubru yesterday.
