While condemning the 'killing' of convenor of BJP Manipur Pradesh Ex-servicemen Cell, Laishram Rameshwar (55) yesterday, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the Government will start reviewing the process of issuing gun license and study the antecedents of all gun license holders.
Sources of the proliferation of unauthorized guns will also be traced, he said and added that gun licenses should be renewed only after conducting a verification on the applicant's general health and mental health.
Today, the mortal remains of Laishram Rameshwar was taken to the Nityaipat Chuthek office of BJP while the members of Council of Ministers, party MLAs and functionaries led by the Chief Minister paid their homage.
BJP State unit president A Sarda Devi also attended the programme.

Speaking to the media, N Biren lauded the Manipur police for arresting the persons involved in the killing shortly after the incident.
Saying that he first suspected the hand of an underground outfit in the killing, N Biren Singh continued that the Government has taken the matter very seriously.
Further stating that the Government has initiated an investigation to find out if there are any more persons involved, the Chief Minister stated that legal actions will be initiated against all perpetrators.
To a query, the Chief Minister said that the Government will review the process in which license guns are being provided to the people and also ascertain whether the whole process is uniform.
He claimed that the number of gun license being issued has reduced after the BJP came to power in Manipur.
