Lamka, December 24, 2013:
A day after the earlier schedule to land at the interior sub-division of Thanlon, Chief Minister O Ibobi today landed in the sub-divisional headquarters by a chopper and put in motion the dream of 'rebuilding Thanlon', a mission local MLA Vungzagin Valte holds dearly since assuming office a couple of years back.
The Chief Minister accompanied by Valte himself and two of their Cabinet colleagues landed at around 3 pm and immediately headed for the power house complex where he inaugurated a 33/11KV power sub-station, a project launched on April 3, 2006. On the same complex he laid the foundation stone for a 132/33 KV Power sub-station.
Ibobi also during his visit laid the foundation stone for SDO/BDO administrative complex and launched the much hyped 'IAY package for Thanlon.' The package it is learnt has been hailed by the denizens of Thanlon but initially ran into political interference making the Chief Minister's personal intervention necessary to come to see the light of day.
Understandably, the Chief Minister was greeted by a larger than life stone engraving that depicts his picture with an accompanying inscription that reads The Father of Rebuilding Thanlon.' In his pre drafted speech Valte wrote, 'infact, Pu Ibobi shared our plights and empathised the people of Thanlon Assembly Constituency so much so that he championed all the major projects in the area.
There, with humility, I proudly declare that Pu O Ibobi Singh is the Father of Re-building Thanlon A/C'.
150 kms and about 6 hours' drive from here, Thanlon was yesterday swarmed with people from across the constituency who arrived in a jam-packed trucks and DIs, enthusiastic to be part of their MLA's dream of rebuilding their home and to merry alongside the Chief Minister.
All top officials of the district were however there to receive the Chief Minister when he landed at Thanlon today, reportedly the third visit by a sitting Chief Minister.
