Tangkhul Churches fast, pray for Naga solution

Tangkhul Churches today fasted and prayed for Naga unity and for peaceful settlement of the Indo-Naga political issue.
Briefing the media, Remember Rimai who is the convener of Tangkhul Community Inter-Denomination Churches Leaders, who is also a Pastor of Union Baptist Church, Ukhrul town highlighted on the main objectives of holding the fasting prayer programme across Tangkhul villages and added that the day is dedicated as "Tangkhul global one day, fasting prayer day" under the banner "Oneness in Christ with Trust" .

He said that all the Tangkhul Christians took part in the fasting prayer programme at their respective Churches to show support to the collective leadership of NSCN (IM) led by Th Muivah.
"It is our sincere prayer to the Almighty God for his intervention for an honourable settlement of the protracted the Naga issue," he said and added that the political settlement should be based on the uniqueness of Naga history that was mutually agreed by the both entities.
Rimai further mentioned that Naga settlement should not hurt the sentiments of the neighbouring community but should equally benefit them.
"They should not mis-understand our political movement for self determination.
We the Tangkhul religious leaders send this message of love to our neighbouring communities with utmost sincerity in the belief we have to live together respecting the rights of every community," added the Pastor.
Peaceful co-existence is a necessity to ensure peace, he said and added that the time has come for the Tangkhul community to repent the past mistakes and seek forgiveness for any hurt caused.
Pastor of SDA Church, Ukhrul Khambi Malangmei said that a special prayer session was held in the Church from 7 am, skipping one meal.
More than 330 Churches in Tangkhul villages irrespective of their denomination fasted and prayed for the Naga issue, which is at a crucial stage.
The fasting prayer programme was organised under the aegis of Council of Naga Churches (CNC), of the NSCN (IM) that looks into the religious affairs of Naga Christian communities of India and Myanmar.
