Imphal, June 24 2021: Dr S Ibomcha who recently took over as SP of Imphal West Police has made it clear that legal actions will be initiated against all the members of the Facebook page "Kanglei Imagi...Nupising (some letters deleted for ethical reason) and the Whatsapp group where sexually explicit contents were shown.

Briefing media persons at the conference hall of SP Imphal West, the police officer stated that on June 12 last Imphal West Police registered different FIR cases against the Facebook page Kanglei Imagi Nupising...' created by one Yumnam Piba and during the course of the investigation it was learned that members of the Facebook page created several Whatsapp groups for sharing obscene, vulgar, pornographic, private photos and videos of several women including locals and minors girls.

Another FIR has also been registered at Imphal Police Station against the Whatsapp group which has three fireballs as a logo.

The admin of the group Kanchui Mangkung (27) of Sorbung village was arrested on June 14 last.

He is currently in judicial custody.

Saying that 16 members of the Whatsapp group and the Facebook page including three juveniles have been arrested by Imphal West and Cyber Crime police so far, the SP added that Mingchatlen Laishram (22) of Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai, creator of the MEGA cloud account where pornographic materials including child pornographic materials are stored has also been arrested.

Mingchatlen Laishram was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West and has been remanded to five days police custody.

The SP said that the trend of misusing social platforms is very unfortunate and appealed to all to use social media platforms in the right manner.

Saying that a search is on to arrest the admin of the Facebook page, he warned that members of the Facebook page and the groups they created will be arrested in a very short period.

Some of the arrested persons were produced before the media persons after the briefing.

They are Konjenbam Arunkumar @ Franky Gaming (29) of Kwakeithel Lamdong Leikai, Victor Sorokhaibam @ Ngongo (28) of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Khuraijam Surjakumar @ Dhoko (28) of Singjamei Chingamakha, Soibam Singhajit (28) of Singda Kadangban Part 1, Oinam Nanao (33) of Top Moirang Kampu, Thokchom Lanchenba (18) of Lamboi Khongnangkhong Emoinu Sanglen Leirak, Elangbam Birjit (26) of Changangei Maning Leikai, Aribam Bonny Sharma (34) of Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai, Mingchatlen Laishram (22) of Wangkei Tokpam Leikai and Angom Roshan (28) of Sekmaijing Thongam Leikai The three juveniles arrested in connection with the case are also likely to be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board tomorrow.

It may also be mentioned that members of the Facebook page Karorchandra @ Khaba (27) of Naombol Kongkham Makha Leikai and Abujam Shatyajit (27) of Changangei Maning Leikai are also in judicial custody in connection with this case.
