Health Minister announces 5 Welfare Schemes for TB patients

Imphal, March 24 2018:
Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri L.Jayantakumar Singh today has announced 5 welfare schemes for TB patients in the state.
Speaking as Chief Guest at the Occasion of the 37th World TB Day which was organised at the IMA Hall Lamphelpat, Imphal minister said that besides its incentives of nutritional support for TB patients of Rs 500/month till completion of treatment from April 2018, Rs.1000/- will also be given to all the first informers of new TB cases.
A new drug to be used in MDR-TB will be available at free of cost for all the eligible MRD-TB patients.
Previously the duration of MDR-TB treatment was for 24 to 27 months.
But the duration will be shorten to 9-12 months with this new regiment, he added.
Minister Jayantakumar also launched one mobile CBNAAT van for Manipur state which will especially be used in outreached and hilly areas where facilities are not available.
Minister appealed the public to cooperate with the government to its new initiatives to bring a TB free society.
The observation function was also attended by Dr..KRajo Singh, Director Health Services/SMD, Manipur, Dr.Kh.Sulochana Devi, Former President IMA, Manipur State Branch and Dr..HRanjit Singh, Additional Director Health as president and Guests of Honour respectively.
A rally was also organised to mark the occasion.
