CORCOM calls general strike on Republic Day
There is no significance of celebrating Republic Day for Manipuri People: Publicity Committee

Conglomerate of various rebel groups operating in the region CORCOM has announced general strike from the midnight of January 25 till 6 pm of January 26 boycotting the Indian Republic Day celebration.
A statement issued by the Publicity Committee of CORCOM said that celebrating the Republic Day of India does not have any significance to the people of the region as the people are still suppress under the colonial rule.
The body while appealing the mass to boycott the event told people to stay indoors and stop all activities during the general strike.
However, essential service like events related to rituals, fire service and medical purposes may precede, the statement said.
Elaborating on why the rebels' body is against the celebration of the Republic Day, the statement of the Publicity Committee CORCOM recount on how many princely states have been forcibly annex to the Indian union against their will.
It said many princely states like Manipur, Kashmir, Travancore (Kerala) Jodhpur, Bhopal, Hyderabad Junagadh etc have joined the Indian union unwillingly.
The statement also recounted on how the Dewan of Travancore, CP Ramaswamy was conspired to finish off, how the prince of Jodhpur put his revolver to the head of VP Menon against forceful attempt to sign the instrument of accession, how the Hyderabad was overpowered to annex to the Indian union and also how the Raja Hari Singh of Kashmir was force to signed the instrument of accession.
The statement also recounted on the India's refusal to adopt the plebiscite at Kashmir under the supervision of Kashmir.
The body further stated that the Indian constitution was not framed by the elected members but was frame by the constituent assembly existed in Dec 6, 1946 under the British rule.
Much were discussed about the beauty of the democratic establishment in the constitution while many princely states were forcible annexed to the Indian Union.
The outfit also recalled on how the Maharaj Bodhachandra was forced to signed the controversial merger agreement at Shillong under duress in 19 49 .
The CORCOM statement also highlighted the extrajudicial killings at Kashmir, Manipur and Punjab by the security forces.
As per Punjab Documentation and Advocacy Project (PDAP) report 8000 people were killed in extra judicial killing from 1985 to 1995.In Manipur 1500 people were eliminated under the extra Judicial killing.
Kashmir have the largest casualty as per the statement of CORCOM.
The CORCOM statement also elaborated on the present strategy of the India government which main agenda is to convert the country into a Hindu country.
