Imphal, October 23 2011:
Even though the licence for leasing out the land of the Manipur State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) at Dimapur to two individuals have been revoked by the Government, the two individuals have been collecting rents from other private occupants of the complex.
Earlier, Nagaland Government allotted the MSRTC complex to seven private individuals before the allotment order was annulled in March this year.
However, the occupants of the complex have not been evicted yet, and the matter was taken up during a meeting between officials of Manipur Government and their Nagaland counterparts yesterday.
Principal Secretary (Transport) Ram Muivah and Transport Director BK Sharma met the Dimapur DC, SP and Settlement officials to discuss the eviction or rather non-eviction of illegal occupants from MSRTC complex.
The Dimapur DC reportedly stated that survey for eviction has been completed and that eviction would be carried out once a report is received from Settlement Directorate.
Though the licence for leasing out the MSRTC complex to one Shyamo of Senapati and Khogen of MG Avenue was cancelled by the State Government in 2007, the two individuals have been collecting rents from the illegal occupants of the complex but the rents thus collected were never forwarded to the State exchequer.
The Nagaland Government officials have asked the State officials to build compound fencing as well as entrance gate and also to station necessary staff for maintaining the complex properly, conveyed the source.
A number of squatters have been illegally staying at the MSRTC land.
