Imphal,July 23 2015:
Although some private schools have resumed classes from today in compliance with the decision of the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association (AMRPSWA), attendance in most of these schools was low.
It may be mentioned that AMRPSWA had urged all the private educational institutions of Imphal area to resume classes from today even as the State Government is yet to issue an order regarding opening of educational institutions.
The State Government issued an order to close all the educational institutes of Imphal East and Imphal West on July 8 after Sapam Robinhood, a class XI student of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, was killed in police crackdown on a group of student protesters who were demanding implementation of ILPS.

AMRPSWA Advisor N Tomba while talking to The Sangai Express said that majority of the students and school vans and buses did not turn up due to fear about their security as the pro-ILPS agitation is still going on.
He added that AMRPSWA would take up immediate steps to open the educational institutes which remained closed today.
Saying that prolonged closure of educational institutes is against the interest of the students, Tomba said that the decision to resume classes in private schools was taken considering future career of young students.
On the other hand, Bharatiya Yuva Morcha, Imphal East District Committee has urged the Government to open the educational institutes at the earliest.
The committee also demanded that the students who have been arrested by police in connection with the ongoing ILPS agitation be released at the earliest.
