Hate crime or racial attack ? Mortal remains brought home

Imphal, July 23 2014:
The mortal remains of A Shaloni, who was beaten to death by a group of people on the midnight of July 21 in Kotla Mubarakpur area, New Delhi, was brought to Imphal today on an Indigo flight.
After a condolence service, the body was taken to Khabung Karong, Senapati District for the final funeral.
Poumai Union, Poumai Naga Psiidumai Me (Poumai Naga Students' Union), Naga People's Organisation, Sena-pati District Students' Asso- ciation, ANSAM, ATSUM; Senapati District Women's Association and leaders of many other organisations were present at Imphal airport to receive the deceased body of A Shaloni.

Speaking to reporters, president of Poumai Naga Tsiidumai Me stated that the gruesome incident of Shalomi was not the first of its kind.
Questioning if the people from the North East are not entitled to any rights in the country, he asserted that discrimination and racist attacks were something that were not expected from people living in metropolitan cities.
Anti-Racist Law should be drafted and enforced at the earliest, he added.
Johny Mao, representative of North-East Students' Association, Delhi , asserted that such incident should not recur and that the association will strive until justice is served.
Condemning the death of A Shaloni, All Manipur Gorkha Students' union appealed the State Government to apprise the issue to the Central Government and take up necessary steps to ensure such incidents do not recur.
A Salouni, a customer Care Executive in a BPO Company, accompanied by two friends, were visiting a friend's place in Kotla when a group of men got down from a Hyundai Verna car and thrashed him.
By the time, police arrived and rushed salouni to AIIMS, doctors declared him brought dead.
