Imphal, December 22 2024:
Democratic Students' Alliance Manipur (DESAM) has pulled up a person who identified himself as the Principal of Brilliant Academy, Thoubal for impersonating as a question setter for the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2025 .
According to DESAM, the Principal who has been identified as Laishram Rajesh was nabbed along with a fake appointment order.
Speaking to the media in this regard at Kwakeithel today, Rajesh appealed to the people to forgive him for his wrongdoing.
He admitted that he tried to defraud the students by impersonating as a question setter for the HSLC examination.
Saying that he took the format of the official appointment order of BoSEM from the Chairman of the Board Akham Joykumar last year in Guwahati and edited it in Photoshop, he said that he will not engage in any fraudulent activities ever again.
Rajesh also said that he came to know that setting questions for the HSCL examination had begun from November 13-14 from the BoSEM Chairman.
The date of commencement of setting questions was added in the fake appointment order, he said.
To a media query, Rajesh said that he went to Guwahati with the BoSEM Chairman last year for matters related with the preparation of HSLC question papers.
Rajesh also said that he is an examiner of BoSEM's matric examination.
DESAM secretary general Nongthonbam Thoithoiba, on the other hand, said that format of the fake appointment order is exactly the same with the one which is issued by the Examination Controller of BoSEM to question setters only, and asked how the private school Principal knew the exact format of the official order.
He also said that they have found evidence of the involvement of BoSEM staff in forging the fake appointment order which looks exactly like the official format.
He, meanwhile, said that instances of question leak has become a regular phenomenon in Manipur.
Saying that DESEM has been closely monitoring issues pertaining to question leaks, Thoithoiba maintained there are many people who defraud students at coaching centres by promising that question papers of HSLC will be made available to them before the examination.
He went on to state that Rajesh tried to enrol as a teacher at Sunshine Coaching Centre at Minuthong and Mind Power Coaching Centre at Patsoi by impersonating as a question setter and an observer of the upcoming HSLC examination.
Further stating that the fraudster was found possessing two fake appointment orders for English and Science subjects, Thoithoiba maintained that BoSEM doesn't appoint a question setter for Science as the subject is classified into Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
He urged the Government and relevant authorities to take the matter very seriously and prevent such fraudulence which can ruin the future of students.
DESAM will hand over the fraud to the police, he said.
