Imphal, November 22 2010: A young woman who has been undergoing treatment for burns at RIMS has succumbed to the injuries.

According to police report, 18-year old Kangujam Ningol Nongthombam Ongbi Anita Devi was admitted to RIMS on November 10 .

She was undergoing further treatment at the surgery ward of the hospital.

But she passed away on account of the burn injuries in the wee hours of Saturday last.

In a complaint lodged with Nambol Police Station, Kangujam Ongbi Sumati Devi, mother of the deceased young woman has charged her son-in-law Shanker with killing of her daughter.

Sumati alleged that her son-in-law set her daughter on fire after pouring Kerosene.

Meanwhile, in protest against alleged murder of Anita by her own husband, a large number of people staged a Wakat Meepham at Leimapokpam Khunpham market shed today.

The protest demonstration was organised under the aegis of JAC against the brutal killing of Anita.
