Imphal, October 22 2019:
The Government of India is most likely not to extend the ceasefire agreement with the NSCN-IM beyond October 31 .
According to well placed sources, the Central Government has instructed all its security agencies to beef up security measures particularly in areas where NSCN-IM has strong presence.
Meanwhile, the State Government has asked the Central Government to consult all stake holders before a final solution to the Naga peace talk is signed.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy today held a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren and reviewed the State's security situation.
The meeting held this morning at 11 was attended by the Chief Secretary, top officials of police, army, CRPF, BSF, AR and other security agencies.
The meeting deliberated on possible deterioration in the State's law and order situation as and when a final agreement is signed between Government of India and NSCN-IM.
Security agencies said that CSOs have already launched mass movements in the State in connection with the proposed settlement of the Naga issue.
Notably, all police personnel have been prohibited from taking leave following the announcement of CSOs to launch different modes of mass movement in the State.
Taking serious note of the deep apprehension felt by the CSOs and the State Government that the final solution to the Naga peace talk would impinge upon the interest of Manipur, G Kishan Reddy stated that he would personally convey the apprehension to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Nonetheless, the State Government officials insisted that the Central Government should make necessary arrangements to consult all stake holders before a final solution is signed with NSCN-IM.
Notably, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs talked with legislators of the BJP-led coalition Government as well as representatives of several civil society organisations yesterday.
