MPP leaders meet Jagat

Imphal, September 22 2011:
MPP today submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister through the Governor requesting the intervention of Government of India in ending the protracted economic blockade along the National Highways in Manipur.
In this regard, a delegation of MPP leaders led by its president Dr Nimaichand Luwang today called on Governor Gurbachan Jagat and submitted the memorandum to be forwarded to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
Leader of the party's Legislature Wing MLA O Joy, party advisor Dr L Chandramani, ex-MLA L Jatra, vice president S Umananda and general secretary AC Jayanta were among the delegation.
During the meeting which lasted for around half an hour, MPP leaders exerted strong pressure on the Governor for lifting the present economic blockade and warned of a possible civil war if the National Highways passing through the State were not re-open at the earliest possible to ameliorate the suffering of the people.
The MPP leaders also pointed out that the Government of India should not remain quiet anymore but take up necessary action in this regard.
The Governor assured the MPP delegation that some concrete measures would be initiated within the next couple of days for clearing the blockade and a report on the present situation in Manipur would be submitted to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
