Education Minister meets student bodies on new NEP

Imphal, August 22 2020: Education Minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam today held a meeting with representatives of several student organisations and discussed on effective implementation of the new National Education Policy, 2020 in the State.

The meeting was held at the conference hall of Samagra Siksha, Manipur.

The Minister appreciated the student organisations for the roles they play in improving education system in the State and stated that the meeting was held to understand the new education policy and analyse in detail for effective implementation.

He heard suggestions and views shared by the representatives of the student organisations.

Pointing out the need for understanding the new education policy for effective implementation, the Minister said that a series of meetings are being planned and organised by the Department of Education.

Better understanding of the National Education Policy, 2020 will help bring about the best education system in the State based on the Indian ethos, he said.

The Minister highlighted some of the major reforms in the National Education Policy, 2020 such as the new 5+3+3+4 system and teaching of students of upto Grade V in mother tongue/regional language etc.

The Minister appealed to all the stakeholders to thoroughly analyse the NEP 2020 and contribute in its implementation by providing valuable suggestions and opinions.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner, Education-S, T Ranjit Singh; Director Education (S) L Nandakumar Singh; Additional Director, Education (S) Hills, Lerte Hmangte Kom, Additional Director, Education (S) Valley, Ch Sachi Devi, and the officials concerned.

Representatives of DESAM, MSF, KSA, SSUM, AIMS, KSO, ATSUM and ANSAM attended the meeting.
