CM inspects Leishang Hiden work progress

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has assured that development work on the historic Leishang Hiden would be completed within the current month.
Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of the inspection tour today, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said that the target has been set for completion of the development work on the historic Leishang Hiden at Canchipur within the current month as it would not be conducive for construction work with the onset of monsoon in July/August.
For the beautification of Leishang Hiden, the Horticulture Department would also be entrusted with the task of planting ornamental trees and flowers on either side of the canal in time for the inauguration, the Chief Minister informed, while expressing satisfaction over the pace of developmental work.
The Chief Minister said that the work progress has been hampered as the electric lines running across the area could not be simply shifted.
Nonetheless, the Electricity Department would be entrusted to do the needful at the earliest possible.

It is said that two local contractors are currently engaged in the developmental work of Leishang Hiden, which is 3.4 kms long with a water body of 30 metres.
The Chief Minister informed that payment of compensation to the owners of the houses constructed on either sides of Leishang Hiden.
During the course of the inspection today, people of the locality requested for providing an alternative site for relocation of a temple located at the mouth of Leishang Hiden near Lilong Bridge.
The Chief Minister also gave his consent to the request.
Works Minister K Ranjit, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East, Chief Engineer (Works) and other Government officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection.
