Imphal, November 20 2011:
Reacting to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's clarification that the report published by Seven Sisters Post (SSP) about the Government of India's offer of Supra State body to NSCN-IM, the daily paper based at Guwahati and Dibrugarh has categorically stated that it was the Home Minister who was not telling the truth.
It also claimed that the SSP is in possession of the 12 page "Status Report" on Government of India-NSCN (IM) negotiations that was submitted by Naga peace interlocutor RS Pandey to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The 24th issue (out of the total 26) deals with boundaries and therein it is clearly said that the Nagas have been offered a Supra-State body in areas of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh inhabited by Nagas.
The Government of India had rejected the NSCN-IM's demand for Nagalim or a greater Naga State but had indeed offered them a Supra State body for ensuring some kind of cultural integration of the Naga areas of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam with the State of Nagaland.
The Government of India projected the Supra-State body as the second best option for the NSCN, if not the best, it reiterated.
It further informed that the whole gist of the "Status report on the GOI-NSCN (IM) negotiations)" was published on SSP's Op-ed pages.
