National meet on Frontiers in Chemical Science begins

A 2-day National Conference on Frontiers in Chemical Science (NCFCS), 2012 commenced at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University here today.
The inaugural function of the National Conference was graced by Prof IS Khaidem, former VC of Manipur University and Prof L Warjit, HoD, Department of Chemistry, MU as Chief Guest and President respectively.
RK Garcia, Dean, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, MU; Prof N Rajmohan, Chairman, NCFCS; Dr O Mukherjee, Convener, NCFCS and Prof H Jungjappa of RISM Institute of Science and Management, Bangalore were also present as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof L Warjit said that the young scholars, researchers and students need to participate in such National Conferences as it will give a lot of exposure and benefit to them.
Dr O Mukherjee said that the conference will enable the young scholars, researchers, staffs and students of MU to intermingle with the delegates of various Universities and Institutes, who will be attending the conference from outside the state and exchange ideas and share thoughts.
He informed that 23 senior most Professors and delegates from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advance Scientific Research, Bangalore; Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai; Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata; University of Memphis, USA and IITs will be presenting papers in the conference.
Another 51 delegates will be presenting Posters on the occasion.
The conference will also witness award presentation on the final day.
