29th Maring Catholic Congress Korungthang preaches co-existence, harmony

"Just because one's religious faith, language and culture are different from another, one has no right to spread hatred and malice.
All communities need to appreciate the universal human values and learn to live together in harmony", stated Congress Legislature Party convenor DK Korungthang.
Addressing the 29th Maring Catholic Congress as the chief guest at St Anthony Catholic Church ground at Machi within Tengnoupal AC today , Korungthang said that it is not right for one group to deride another just because their culture, language and religious faith are different.
He asserted that Church leaders and pastors need to take pro-active roles in all efforts aimed at restoring harmony among different communities.
Talking about development works, Korungthang stated that efforts are on to develop several infrastructure within Machi block.
Observing that construction work of a police station at Machi is nearing completion, Korungthang said a bank would be opened very soon once the construction work is completed.
There are plan to commission a power sub-station and upgrade Machi High School to the level of a secondary school.
Efforts are also on to set up a residential school at Heinoukhong for poor students.
Saying that road infrastructure development works could not be executed properly due to disturbances emanating from different quarters, Korungthang informed that a new project to construct a bridge-less road from Heirok to Moreh has been included in the work programme under the Prime Minister's package.
He also called upon all church leaders and youth leaders to cooperate with Government initiatives taken up for people's welfare The congress also featured group song, cultural war dance, Bible quiz and Maring gospel solo competitions.
The congress was also attended by many Members of ADC Chandel.
