Mid-rally violence Moreh communities reconcile

The two groups of people who had a violent confrontation at Moreh yesterday have reconciled and come to an understanding after a meeting of all communities was held today.
However, curfew imposed in the border town since 11 am yesterday has not been lifted yet.
Leaders of many civil society organisations like ACODOM, MCM, HTC, KIM, AMUCO, UCM and ICHAM took part in the meeting.
The meeting held at the Moreh Trade Centre was also attended by Works Minister Dr K Ratankumar, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, MLA D Korungthang, IGP (Zone-III) T Guite, DIG (Range-IV) Dr S Ibocha, Chandel DC Robert Kshetri-mayum and SP Chandel N Herojit.
Leaders of different communities who were present at the meeting unanimously condemned yesterday's violent incident and they agreed to work together to bring peace and normalcy in the border town.
It was agreed that the Government should provide adequate compensation for the properties destroyed and casualties suffered during the confrontation.
It was also greed that the Government would look into the demand for suspension of the Additional SP, Moreh.
Imposition of bandh or strike at Moreh should be done only there is a consensus among all communities.
No ILPS related activity should be carried out at Moreh until and unless the question whether Kukis are foreigners or not is settled.
These were some other decisions of the meeting.
Both HTC president Ginsei Lhungdim and MCM president M Thoiba tendered apologies to each other and all the people of Moreh for yesterday's violence.
The meeting further agreed to make an assessment of the properties destroyed together with the Chandel DC tomorrow.
