"Today's mob violence was sponsored by the communal Manipur Government," the UNC alleged, and asked, "How could such an incident take place in a high security zone?" .
The UNC further stated that the "communal" Government of Manipur had let loose a "reign of terror" on the innocent Naga public with the State security forces.
"Lives and properties of the Nagas are in great danger in Imphal as the communal Manipur Government will not protect them," the UNC stated, adding, "But it provides adequate security to trucks transporting goods for the valley" .
The UNC asked the Nagas to remain alert to face any eventuality.
"We should remain firm and united at this juncture," added the UNC.
The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has also vehemently condemned the targeting of innocent Naga people at Imphal under the patronage of the Government of Manipur.
In a statement, NSF said "the Nagas have always believed in democratic and non-violent means to assert our rights.
But the act meted out to the Nagas has become intolerable" .
Harassing and detaining innocent Naga travellers, the vandalization of Churches, the burning of vehicles are totally unacceptable, added the student body.
NSF warned that the Government of Manipur will be solely responsible if any untoward incident happens to any Naga in Manipur.
