Imphal, February 18 2025: Police arrested the self-styled chairman of KCP (KK Nganba) and a cadre of the outfit for their alleged involvement in extortion activities from Langol yesterday.

In continued crackdown on extortion activities, another KCP (PWG) cadre was also arrested from Irum Mapal in Kakching today.

The two cadres of KCP (KK Nganba) who were arrested from Langol Ningthou Leikai have been sent to police custody for seven days by the Court of Imphal West Chief Judicial Magistrate today.

The arrested self styled chairman of KCP (KK Nganba) has been identified as Chongtham Manglemjao Meitei @ KK Nganba @ Kanglei Khoriba Nganba (70) of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak currently staying at Langol Ningthou Leikai while the arrested cadre of the outfit has been identified as Laishram Manglemba (57) of Thoubal Kiyam Leikai near Babu Bazar.

The duo was produced before the Court by Lamphel police with a prayer to send them to police custody for seven days.

The police submitted that thorough investigation of the case is crucial to uncover the full extent of the arrested persons' involvement in extortion activities and to identify potential accomplices.

The Court after hearing the submission of the police and on perusal of the material on record remanded the two accused to police custody till February 24 .

Meanwhile, the cadre of KCP (PWG) who was arrested from Irum Mapal has been identified as Naorem Premkanta @ Thengra (43), s/o N Ibomcha of Irum Mapal.

He has been handed over to Kakching police station.
