Police Gallantry: Enquiry set up, 2 police personnel suspended

Imphal, August 17 2020:
In connection with awarding of Chief Minister's Medal for Gallantry to a Police officer who was involved in a drug haul case, LM Khaute DGP Manipur ordered to enquire into the lapses in connection with the proposal for award of Chief Minister's Medal submitted by SP- Imphal East, Manipur in respect of the said officer of Imphal East District.
A committee was formed consisting of K Radhashyam Singh, IGP(lnt), Manipur- Chairman and S Gautam Singh, SP-CID(SB), Manipur and Joyce Lalremmawi SP- CID(CB), Manipur.
The committee will carry out fresh verification of antecedents and past records of all the recipients of Chief Minister's Medal on the occasion of Independence Day, 2020 .
Also, an inspector E.Roshan Singh working as a reader to SP/IE who was found responsible for lapses in the initial processing has been placed under suspension by an order.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh in a Facebook post admits the goof up, posting a snippet of Imphal Times publication and ordered to initiate an enquiry.
Imphal Times in its yesterday edition, published about the said lapse which was pointed out by All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) .
