Imphal, April 16 2015 :
The State Government's proposal to rope in Central Bureau of Inves-tigation (CBI) to investigate into the discovery of human skulls and other skeletal re-mains from the erstwhile Tom- bisana High School campus has been turned down by the Ministry of Home Affairs, stated Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking as chief guest at the launching function of year long birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar at Congress Bhavan here today, Ibobi stated that the State Government wrote a prompt proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs to let the CBI investigate into the discovery of human skulls and skeletal remains but the same proposal has been turned down.

Many sections have been speculating that the skulls and skeletal remains might be of those people who disappeared involuntarily after they were picked up by security forces as the school campus was occupied by different security units at different points of time.
Even though the MHA has turned down the State Government's proposal, the Government has no objection to any initiative taken up by any NGO or civil society organisation to establish the facts behind the skulls and skeletal remains discovered from Tombisana High School campus.
Pointing out that one-fourth of the ground digging work is still left, the Chief Minister appealed to one and all to let the ground digging work go on while the same process is video-recorded and monitored by media, NGOs and civil society organisations.
Notably, the erstwhile school campus is being dug up in order to construct a new market complex.
Talking about the VDF's demands and their ongoing agitation, Ibobi expressed keen desire to discuss the matter on table even if their demands are justified.
The Government of India is considering implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
If these recommendations are implemented, monthly emoluments of VDFs would be increased even if it takes some time, Ibobi stated.
Referring to the collapse of a section of retaining wall in the downstream of a mini dam constructed across Sek-mai river, the Chief Minister declared that befitting actions would be initiated against those people found guilty.
