Imphal, November 15 2010:
Protesting against non-payment of 6th Central Revised Pay to Government school teachers, the Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) has launched a cease work strike in all schools located within and around Imphal Municipal area from today.
A press release issued by COTA reminded that an MoU was signed between the State Government represented by the Chief Secretary and COTA and JAC at the Chief Minister's Secretariat chamber on May 19 this year.
The MoU agreed on payment of 6th Central Revised pay to Government school teachers in toto but the same MoU has not been implemented till date though it has been almost six months since the MoU was signed, decried COTA.
Saying all other schools located in both the valley and hills would be joining the cease work strike in the next couple of days, COTA blamed the State Government for the emerging crisis.
Meanwhile, Ching-Tam High School, Yaingangpokpi has pledged unstinted support to the ongoing cease work strike, conveyed a press release issued by the school's Headmaster.
