Imphal, July 15 2024: Former Salai Holdings managing director Narengbam Samarjit was attacked by some unidentified persons who lobbed a hand grenades at his residence at around 10.30 pm yesterday.

Some unknown persons who came in a four-wheeler hurled two hand grenades at the residential gate of former managing director of Salai Holdings, Narengbam Samarjit located at Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Imphal West under Lamphel police station.

One of the hand grenades exploded while the second failed to go off.

There was no report of any injury.

Soon after the bomb attack, people of the neighbourhood rushed out and they found one unexploded hand grenade on the ground.

They immediately informed the police station concerned.

Senior police officers of Imphal West district police and a team of Lamphel police station rushed to the incident site and cordoned off the area.

Police also recovered two safety levers of hand grenades, sources said.

Later, a bomb disposal squad came and safely retrieved the unexploded hand grenade from the spot before it was safely defused at Lamphel dumping site at around 1 am today.

A case has been registered at Lamphel police station regarding the incident, said he sources.
