Imphal, September 14 2024:
The Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) and All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) have taken strong exception to the claim made by former Director General of Assam Rifles PC Nair that there was no case of Kuki militants using drones and missiles to attack Meetei residential areas as per his understanding.
In a press release issued by its general secretary Th Apabi Leima, PLMPAM said that the statement of PC Nair exposes a collusion which the Assam Rifles is allegedly involved in.
Is there a reason why people should not say PC Nair played a big part in the scheme which aims to disintegrate Manipur when he was the DG of Assam Rifles, PLMPAM countered.
The Association further stated that the former DG of Assam Rifles openly denying the deployment of drones and missiles in the attacks at Koutruk and Moirang exposes the dubious conduct of the paramilitary force (Assam Rifles).
Two persons including a 31 year old mother were killed in the attack at Koutruk on September 1 while an elderly man who was performing a ritual was killed in the missile attack at Moirang on September 6.PLMPAM and AMAWOVA condemn the controversial statement of PC Nair in the strongest terms, it added.
A top police officer had on Tuesday said that tails of sophisticated rockets were recovered after recent drone and hi-tech missile attacks in Manipur.
Meanwhile, PLMPAM stated that security forces firing tear gas and mock bombs and cracking down on the students who were protesting at Kakwa recently against the failure of the Government and the security forces to protect the lives and properties of the people was excessive.
It said that PLMPAM and AMAWOVA condemn firing of tear gas shells and mock bombs at residential places at Kakwa on September 11 night.
A nine month pregnant woman who was at her home is in hospital now battling for life as one of the tear gas fell near her place and suffocated her, PLAMPAM said condemning the excesses of the security forces.
