Imphal, May 14 2017:
'Modi Walking on Elusive Naga Peace', a book authored by Nagaland based journalist Oken Jeet Sandham was released today at State Information Centre, Palace Gate here.
IPR Director Meghachandra Kongbam, Imphal Free Press Resident Editor Irengbam Arun and Editors' Guild Manipur president A Mobi graced the book release function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the gathering, Meghachandra Kongbam remarked that people of mainland India including political leaders have limited knowledge about the North East region and this has been one primary reason for the Government of India's failure to tackle the myriad problems of the region effectively.
Journalists, on account of their profession, are quite knowledgeable about the contemporary issues of the society.
Generally, books authored by journalists are often insightful and Oken Jeet Sandham's new work is no exception, Meghachandra said.
A Mobi remarked that Oken Jeet Sandham, as reflected in his book, adopted a balanced position with regard to the highly emotive issue of the Naga peace process.
