Imphal, February 14 2016:
The frame-work agreement signed be- tween NSCN-IM and the Centre's BJP Government poses serious challenge to the existence of Manipuri people as a nation, remarked MLA RK Anand.
He was speaking at an annual meeting of office bearers, workers and advisors of programme coordinating committees of all polling stations of Naoriya Pakhang- lakpa Assembly Constituency held at his residence today.
He questioned the BJP Government's motive to disintegrate Manipur and create disunity among the people.
Manipur was literally put on fire when the previous BJP Government signed a cease fire pact with NSCN-IM with the clause 'without territorial limits'.
In the subsequent people's uprising, 18 lives were lost.
Taking serious note of BJP's alliance with hill-based Naga People's Front (NPF), RK Anand asked whether the alliance would disintegrate Manipur or protect the State.
BJP should stop playing 'divide and rule' policy.
Many BJP Ministers and MPs came to the State and went back without doing anything beneficial to the State.
As they are only good at rhetoric, BJP will never come to power in Manipur.
Biren who was also present at the meeting hailed Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing for speaking the 'truth' that the three Bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 last year are not anti-tribal.
Stating that hill people of Manipur need more leaders like Phungzathang, Biren asserted that it is not the hill people but leaders who have been creating problems and issues.
Pointing out that Deputy Speaker Preshow Shimray and MPCC president Gaikhangam have already clarified that the three Bills are not anti-tribal, Biren called upon all the people to shed communal outlook and agenda but concentrate on upholding the integrity and unity of Manipur.
He went on to claim that Congress will retain power after the next Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
