Dimapur, October 13 2012:
As reported earlier, the Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) of Nagaland legislative assembly will be going to New Delhi on Sunday to give another push for the expedition of the Naga peace talk which has been dragging on since 1997 .
The JLF which has been floated few months ago by the 60 MLAs of the Nagaland legislative assembly cutting across party lines had already camped in the national capital some three months ago and met many Central leaders while pressing for the early settlement of the Naga peace talk.
Attempts to contact members of the JLF this evening proved futile.
Few days ago, it was reported that a 16-member delegation of the JLF would head for New Delhi on October 14 and discuss the issue with Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde pertaining to the Indo-Naga political talk.
On October 9, chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio had said that it was hopeful that the government of India and the Naga outfits would take advantage of this opportunity to find an amicable settlement.
"If this opportunity is missed, I don't know whether such opportunity will come back to our people during our lifetime," Neiphiu Rio was quoted as saying by a Dimapur newspaper.
At the backdrop of this picture, Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had commented that the settlement pertaining to Naga political issue would be brought about by March next year, the time before the next assembly election of Nagaland.
Meanwhile, one thing that is not that encouraging to witness from the Nagas perspective has been the blow-hot-blow-cold relations maintained by various Naga underground groups.
There have been clashes occurring from time to time between the NSCN factions one led by S.S Khaplang and the other by Khole and Kitovi Zhimomi.
Again, the off and on comments made by GPRN/NSCN (Khole/Kitovi group) general secretary Kitovi Zhimomi to find a separate solution for the Nagas of Nagaland had invited reactions from certain quarters.
The NSCN headed by S.S.Khaplang has also been on the stance not to accept anything less than 'Naga Sovereignty" .
