Ibobi pitches for India's integrity

Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has called upon all the people to take pro-active roles towards strengthening the integrity and sovereignty of India by following the footsteps of those leaders who took pivotal roles in the country's freedom struggle.
Lamlai Block Congress Committee today took out an Azadi Ka Gaurav Yatra from Sawombung Kabui Khul to Lamlai.
The yatra/rally led by MPCC president K Meghachandra was organised by the Lamlai Block Congress Committee in collaboration with the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) under the All India Congress Committee.
The rally was participated by CLP leader O Ibobi, former Deputy Chief Minister and CWC Member Gaikhangam, Congress MLAs, leaders, workers and sympathisers.
Participants of the rally shouted many slogans against inflation and hiking prices of many essential commodities.
Notably, Azadi Ka Gaurav Yatra is being celebrated across the country from August 9 to 15 in commemoration of the 75 years of India's independence.
Speaking at the rally, O Ibobi said that the main purpose of Azadi Ka Gaurav Yatra is remembering those heroes and martyrs who laid down their lives in the struggle to drive out British colonial rulers from India.
He called upon all the people to work in line with the vision of those leaders who laid down their lives in the course of India's freedom struggle and work collectively to consolidate the integrity and sovereignty of the country.
MPCC president K Meghachandra said that they took out the rally after paying tributes to all the patriots of Manipur who fought against British imperialism.
He said that they are proud of those Congress leaders who won back the freedom of India from the British colonial yoke.
He said that the rally was organised to highlight the plight of economically weaker sections, price rise, ever increasing GST and the ever worsening problem of unemployment.
The Congress party also paid their tributes at the INA War Memorial, Moirang and the Khongjom War Memorial.
