Imphal, February 12 2024:
Drawing a parallel between the present conflict and the then Naga-Kuki clash, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation has accused the Government of India of "allowing" violence to continue in Manipur.
The organisation's president, Pheiroijam Nando Luwang said the present crisis in Manipur is a clear indication of the Government of India's "total failure" in governance.
He made the statement while speaking to a gathering on the occasion of AMUCO's 31st foundation day, celebrated at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai community hall today.
The gathering remembered and paid floral tributes to late former members of the organisation.

Speaking to the gathering, Nando said the Prime Minister of the country is travelling across continents, but has failed to end the violence in one of his States.
Instead of dousing the fire, the Centre is spectating the burning of houses in Manipur as watching "diwali lights", he said.
He recalled that the Government of India "didn't" end the then Naga-Kuki clash from 1992 to 1995 in time.
The Government of India "allowed" the Naga-Kuki clash to continue and kill over one thousand people.
"Like in the Naga-Kuki clash, is the Government of India waiting for over a thousand people to die before it acts?" Ph Nando asked.
He continued that the MLAs belonging to the indigenous community [Meitei] seem to be lacking resolve to face the challenges at present.
"Our MLAs seem unaware that a 'war' has waged against the indigenous community.
They seem to be sleeping.
They should wake and act with resolve.
"Those seeking to disintegrate Manipur must be driven across the river like Iningthou (King) Gambhir Singh drove the Awa (Burmese) beyond Ningthi River," he said.
On the security of Manipur, Nando continued that the people of the State must oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) .
Under the CAA, the Government seeks to grant Indian Nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants- Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan who arrived in India till December 31, 2014 .
Notably, the Ministry of Home Affairs, in 2020, had said that the CAA would not be implemented in States/areas where ILP is in force.
Meanwhile, Nando said that even if the CAA isn't implemented yet, Manipur is already facing the problems of influx of migrants and illegal immigrants.
If CAA is implemented, it would have immense impacts on the indigenous population of Manipur.
Therefore, the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act must not touch or affect Manipur, he said.
The people of Manipur should stand against any move to implement the CAA across the country including Manipur, he added.
AMUCO advisor Ito Tongbram, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president S Memcha, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) president Y Kunjarani and All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPACO) working president Yumkhaibam Hayatur Rahman alias Akuba attended the event.
