NEFIS condemns arrest of MSAD members

Imphal, December 11 2020: North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) condemns the recent arrest of members of student organization, MSAD in Delhi.

A statement said that the members were arrested for releasing a press statement against the issue of introduction of Sanskrit in schools and colleges of Manipur.

The said press release had used some explicit words against a particular group regarding which the organization had later released a clarification.

The arrest goes against the right to freedom of speech and can be seen as a deliberate attempt to curb democratic criticism.

NEFIS demands that the arrested members of MSAD should be released immediately and unconditionally, and the issue be resolved amicably.
