Rajnath likely to inaugurate Durand Cup

Imphal, August 11 2022: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to inaugurate the Durand Cup in Imphal on August 18 with Chief Minister N Biren Singh chairing a meeting to discuss the preparatory arrangement being taken up to host the Asia's oldest football tournament in the State today.

Manipur will co host the tournament with Assam and West Bengal for the first time and a total of 10 league matches will be played in Imphal.

In his Facebook post, the Chief Minister wrote, "Chaired a meeting to discuss the preparatory arrangements for the proposed visit of Hon'ble Union Defence Minister, Sh@rajnathsingh Ji to inaugurate the Durand Cup in Imphal on 18th August, 2022 .

The meeting was attended by Hon'ble YAS Minister, CS, DGP & Senior Army officials" .

The Chief Minister also held a review meeting to address the various bottlenecks in the expansion, widening and development of the National Highways in the presence of Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and top Government officials.
