Imphal, April 11 2022: State police have arrested as many as four persons in the last two days as drives against drug trafficking continue.

Imphal East district commando managed to arrest two persons along with drugs in two separate incidents while Bishnupur police arrested two others from Kwakta Turel Mapal this morning.

According to a police source, Imphal East district commando arrested one drug dealer identified as Md Muna Ali (23) from Hatta Motim Leirak near Shri Pukhri around 5.10 yesterday evening during a random frisking conducted in Hatta Golapati area.

The commando unit recovered 14 plastic vials containing heroin powder from the possession of Md Muna Ali, son of Md Liyaquat Ali of Ita-Khulla Hatta, the source said.

The arrested person also revealed that he was a drug dealer/ peddler for the past two years and he bought the heroin powder from one Akash from North AOC, the source said while adding that he (Muna Ali) along with the recovered items have been handed over to Porompat PS for further necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East commandos arrested a 43 year old man with 2 soap-cases containing heroin powder during a massive search operation at Kairang Chingya this morning under the command of Kh Herojit, Additional SP (Operation) and overall supervision of SP Imphal East, M Pradip.

Heroin powder weighing approximately 26 grams, 100 empty plastic vials and a sum of Rs 12,700 were recovered from the possession of the person identified as Md Imtiyaz Khan, son of late Md Atzal Khan of Kairang Chingya Leikai, said a police source.

During interrogation, the arrested person not only disclosed that the seized heroin powder was brought from one Md Abothe alias Abo of Lilong Mairen Khul and was to be sold to willing buyers.

He also revealed that he has been in the trade for the last 2/3 years.

The person and the seized items have been handed over to Heingang police station for further action, the source added.

Elsewhere, a team of Bishnupur commando unit arrested two drug peddlers along with 40 soap cases containing 488 grams of Heroin powder from Kwakta Turel Mapal this morning.

Two persons identified as Wahengbam Rajkumar Singh (25), son of late Sunil of Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai and Khaimuanlal Singson (22), son of Gaikholen Singson of Khuongjang village, Thanlon were arrested by the commando team led by Subedar Y Shaktishen, OC Bishunpur commando acting on a specific information about the presence of drug peddlers in and around Kwakta Turel Mapal area at around 7.30 am.

The arrested persons and the seized items have been handed over to Moirang police station for further necessary action, further said the source.
