Imphal, March 11 2017:
Pointing out that the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India was used as a tool by political parties to gain political mileage in the 11th State Assembly election, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) doubted the assurance given by the Central Government that the agreement does not threaten the territorial boundary and integrity of the State.
In a press release, AMUCO asked as to why the Central Government is not disclosing the contents of the agreement publicly if it does not contain anything that threatens the State.
It contended that the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 was done in secrecy to appease a particular section.
The organisation made it clear that the State must not be related to the agreement in any form.
Many groups including AMUCO have been demanding the Central Government to produce a white paper on the contentious agreement but the call went unheard, it said.
Maintaining that people residing in the hills and valley are brothers and sisters and have been living together in the State since time immemorial, AMUCO expressed strong condemnation on the "cheap politics" played by the Central Government on the agreement.
