Imphal, December 10 2012: The house of a former Pradhan of Chingnungkhok Gram Panchayat came under heavy gun attack of suspected armed UGs last night.

No one was hurt in the attack.

According to information received by the press, heavily armed UG suspects numbering about four of them opened indiscriminate fire at the house of Leishangthem Tarpon, who is a former Pradhan of Chingnungkhok Gram Panchayat at Nongren Maning Leikai under Imphal East at around 7:40 pm yesterday.

It is said that Tarpan was in the bathroom while other family members were in the kitchen having food when the attack took place.

Tarpon has revealed that KCP Maoist had demanded Rs 10 lakh from him about five months ago and the Sunday's attack was the third such attack in recent months.

A team of personnel from Lamlai police station who came to inspect the spot has recovered 45 empty cases of M-16 rifles and a case has also been registered in connection with the attack.

Meanwhile, local Meira Paibis staged a protest demonstration today condemning the gun attack at the house of the former Pradhan.
