Imphal, August 10, 2014:
Following sudden notification issued by the Manipur University authority to vacate both the boys' and girls' hostels, numerous hostellers with no other places to go have been taking shelter in Heijigang Keithel and are facing all kinds of adversities.
Speaking exclusively to The Sangai Express, Ajit, one MU student, asserted that they are now out of money to afford meals and with deteriorating health, students, particularly girls have been greatly demoralized.
With no proper place even to change clothes, they are being exposed to all kinds of adverse and humiliating conditions, Ajit added.
Hostelers were notified to vacate the hostels in a day.
The sudden notice caused confusion among the students and most of their basic materials starting from clothes to books were left behind.
If present situation continues for any longer period, dreams and careers of many students will be shattered, he asserted.
Standing firm on their decision, Ajit stated that they will continue to stay in Heijigang Keithel even if they might have to starve until MU authority agrees to reopen the hostels.
Ajit also expressed dissatisfaction over the Government's failure to assist the struggling students.
He appealed the public to come forth and lend their support.
