Mao bandh strands convoy

On account of the 24 hours bandh called by the Mao Council in protest against the killing of NSCN-Khole-Kitovi group Lt Col Pfokrehe, oil tankers and LPG bullet tankers which left Imphal with CRPF escorts could not cross Mao and the convoy comprising of 43 oil tankers and LPG bullets is stranded at Makhan.
According to information received from Mao Police, the empty oil tankers and LPG bullet tankers are being guarded by CRPF.
The convoy would cross Mao tomorrow morning and the CRPF team would escort back another convoy of loaded oil tankers and LPG bullets from Khuzuma to Imphal.
The loaded oil tankers and LPG bullets were escorted from Khakhati to Khuzuma by another team of CRPF.
Around 46 oil tankers and LPG bullets are awaiting CRPF escorts at Khuzuma for their journey to Imphal, added the source.
Meanwhile making clear its neutrality, the Mao Union Imphal condemned the forcible abduction of Pfokrehe James by three unidentified gunmen at Senapati Bazar and the subsequent killing in public view on August 6. A statement issued by the Union shared the grief of the and sorrow of the bereaved family members.
