PM determined to solve Naga issue : RN Ravi

Joint Intelligence Committee Chairman & Interlocutor of Naga peace talks, RN Ravi graced today's morning session of the Hornbill Festival at Kisama as the chief guest and underlined the point that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is determined to settle the decades old Naga issue.
In his address at the festival venue, Ravi said that the Nagas have all the reasons to be proud of their unique culture, at the same time, the obligations to preserve it.
He urged the Nagas to extend their unity beyond culture and other aspects of Naga life.
He said that as an Interlocutor, his biggest concern is the division in the society and finding a solution to the problem of division is the biggest challenge.
He added that the solution has to be "inclusive" taking all the stakeholders.
Stressing on "Framework Agreement" that was signed between the NSCN (IM) and the Gopvernment of India in August, Ravi said, "it is a historic opportunity and the moment has come" .
He added that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has a deep respect for the Naga political issue and he is determined to solve the issue on the principal of equality and mutual respect.
Urging the Nagas to come together, Ravi said "We have a lot of bitter memories but do we remain hostage to those memories or look forward to meet our destiny ? Although it is not easy, it will be unfair to the future generation if we don't fulfil our dreams" .
While appreciating the efforts of RN Ravi for his sincerity and commitment in realising the dream of the Nagas, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Apok Jamir, in his brief speech, said that it is the collective effort of the Nagas that will ensure the fulfilment of dreams.
Ravi was also treated to the rich cultural shows of the Nagas.
Cultural performances in the morning session included presentations by the Viswema Youth Organisation (Angami) � Sokresene Khwe/Tewomi Kesu (Folk song), Chumshu MPS Society (Waoshu village) (Chang) � Peace Treaty between Two Warring Villages (Pindem Kumbu), Garo Cultural Troupe (Erali Bill) Dimapur � Wapang Kaka (folk dance), Akholongshi Cultural Sporting Club (Ao) - Yisemba (feast), Pungthu Cultural Troupe Pungro Town (Yimchunger) � Yimchungre (folk song), Lotsu Village Cultural Club, (Lotha) � Folk Dance, Old Peren Cultural Troupe (Zeliang) � Tingwang Rezai (folk song), Longchang Cultural Troupe (Mon) Konyak � Mai Dungpu (love song), Zapami Kuzha Cultural Society (Chakhesang) � Kuzhami Kru (folk drama) .
In the afternoon session the performances included troupes from Zisunyu village cultural troupe (Rengma) � Ma Keyi (traditional display), Apoksah village cultural troupe (Pochury) � Folk dance, Lizumi village cultural troupe (Sumi) � Aphilo Kuwo (War dance), Wui village cultural troupe (Khiamniungan) � Phelo-Shekut (log drum worship), Kuki cultural troupe (Maova) (Kuki) � Vakol Lam (Folk dance), Tamlu Buhu Union, Dimapur (Phom) � Nau-u Bu Asho (Folk song), Dimasa cultural troupe, Dimapur (Kachari) � Bai-Bin or Suphen (dance in fiddle or flute tune), Chimonger (Thingri cultural club C/Khel) Village cultural troupe (Sangtam) � Shangsi Nengmusha Khi (folk song) .
