Kukis call the shots at Koutruk

Imphal, September 08 2024: After the unprecedented bombing from high-tech drones at Koutruk on September 1 in which one young woman was killed and many people injured including the woman's minor daughter, Kuki militants have been literally running the show at Koutruk and adjoining areas by using both drones and drone jammers.

The Contractors Association, RIMS today presented mattresses and other relief materials to the war-ravaged villagers of Koutruk.

Speaking at the event of presenting the relief materials, Koutruk Apunba Lup secretary Leishangthem Khelendro said that Koutruk, Kadangband and many other foothill villages have been bearing the brunt of the Kuki militants' relentless attack for the past 16 months.

After a brief lull, Koutruk, Kadangband and other foothill villages came under heavy attacks from Kuki terrorists who are now using high-tech weaponised drones to drop bombs in addition to other sophisticated firearms.

Apart from drones, the Kuki terrorists are now using drone jammers.

Armed with these high-tech weapons and equipment, the Kuki terrorists have the capacity to attack and overrun the Meitei villages at any time, Khelendro said.

Saying that they are finding it hard to defend their villagers from the relentless onslaught of Kuki terrorists, he urged the State Government to pay special attention to the matter and install anti-drone systems at Koutruk and adjoining areas to neutralise future attacks.
