Uikey takes stock of relief centres

Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited two relief camps in Imphal West district today and distributed relief materials.
A press release issued from Raj Bhavan said that the Governor first visited Meitei Langol Leima Khullen Leikai Relief Camp and interacted with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying there and enquired about the facilities being provided to them and later went to the THAU Ground Relief Camp.
She distributed relief materials-blankets, mosquito nets, kitchen sets and hygiene kits to families from Churachandpur, Tangjeng, Napat, Serou, Moreh, Torbung Bangla etc taking refuge in the two relief camps.

The Governor also distributed cash assistance to pregnant women and lactating mothers in the camp and distributed edibles and some pocket money to the displaced children at the two relief camps.
Anusuiya Uikey also handed over a cash assistance of Rs 20,000 to the relief committee of Langol Camp.
Speaking to the IDPs, the Governor said that the series of unfortunate incidents which started on May 3 this year have left many people homeless while many others have been killed.
She said that the Central and State security forces are working constantly to restore normalcy in Manipur.
Anusuiya Uikey continued that security forces have been deployed in almost all vulnerable areas.
Condemning all forms of violence, the Governor said that violence will not bring any solution and as such all should refrain from taking the law into their hands.
She appealed to all the stakeholders to cooperate with the Government to end the violence.
Stating that more pre-fabricated homes are under construction to house the displaced folks, the Governor said that the displaced persons will be sent to their houses once the process of compensation is completed and normalcy returns.
The Governor said that she is also in touch with the President, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and other Central leaders to solve the ongoing crisis amicably.
Later, the Governor went to THAU Ground Relief Camp where she met with IDPs and heard their grievances.
She assured them to extend all possible assistance to the people in the camp and instructed the district administration to provide all requirements to the inmates.
The relief materials were given by IRCS, New Delhi.
