Imphal, May 08 2020:
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand today inspected the quarantine centre opened at Manipur College exclusively for the people of Singjamei Assembly segment.
Speaking to media persons after inspecting the quarantine centre, Y Khemchand called upon all the people to fight COVID-19 collectively so that the highly contagious virus does not spread in Manipur.
Now an extensive war has been raging between coronavirus and mankind.
As such, each and every individual must work as a warrior and defeat the virus, Khemchand said.
Notably, the quarantine centre was opened on May 3 and two persons are being confined there.
He vowed that no financial assistance would be sought from the Government except for technical support in the fight against COVID-19 in Singjamei AC.
Money and edible items contributed by generous people are sufficient to look after requirements of all the people of Singjamei AC, he claimed.
It is being speculated that more than 300 residents of Singjamei AC are currently stranded in different parts of the country.
There would be enough accommodation for them as they return in phases, Khemchand said.
He also hailed the Government's initiative to bring back 1200 Manipuri people from Bangalore by train.
