CSOs of Nagaland demands settlement of NSCN -IM issue before state assembly election

When source with the Election Commission of India says that the election scheduled for Nagaland along with Tripura and Meghalaya is likely to be announced on January 12, various civil society organizations in Nagaland want settlement of the NSCN-IM issue before the election.
Various Naga civil societies including the Nagaland Tribes Council, Gaon Bura Federation of Nagaland, Central Nagaland Tribes Council, Rengma Hoho and ACAUT have unanimously called for a solution and settlement to the Indo Naga political issue before conducting elections in the State.
In a separate appeals and representations to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the civil societies called for the deferment of polls in favour of a political solution saying that an election in the state at this juncture would jeopardize the ongoing Naga political talks.
While ACAUT has demanded for President's Rule in lieu of election, the GB Federation has warned that Elections at this point in time would bring negative elements which will disrupt the political decorum including the present peace process.
Meanwhile Rengma Hoho has appealed to all the tribal Hohos and Naga civil societies, including the religious organizations to come out openly demanding for solution before election.
