Ibobi rebuffs Amit Shah's claims

Thoubal, April 07 2019: Ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has claimed that the Congress party is not like the BJP, whose words and actions are totally opposite and added that the people are not foolish enough to blindly believe any of the lies concocted by Amit Shah.

He made the statement during an election campaign held at Heirok Part II pologround for INC's Outer candidate K James, today.

Speaking at the event which was organised by Heirok Block Congress Committee, Ibobi said that BJP is a political party built on lies and the people of the State are not foolish enough to believe whatever lies BJP National president Amit Shah told them.

He clarified that the foundation for the Jiribam to Imphal railway project, which costs an estimated Rs 9000 crore, was laid by then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during the time of the UPA Government and it was initially planned for completion till Tupul by 2017 .

However, the work has stagnated after BJP came to power, he alleged.

Ibobi then asked if it is reasonable and believable when Amit Shah claimed that the said railway project was initiated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and added that the only thing BJP is good at is spreading baseless lies and confusion among the people.

Ibobi continued that if the Congress comes back to power, the party will work tirelessly for the empowerment of the people.

On the other hand, MPCC president and CWC Member Gaikhangam said that the Congress will surely win the coming 17th Lok Sabha election.

BJP is an enemy of the poor people and under the BJP, the people cannot follow their culture, religion and traditions freely, he claimed.

Gaikhangam further alleged that BJP is an unlucky and ominous party for Manipur and explained that whenever BJP comes to power, the State gets embroiled in turmoil.

Ex Ministers D Korungthang, M Hemanta, N Mangi, M Okendra, MLA Abdul Nasir, ex MLA Md Amin Shah and Outer INC candidate K James as well as various leaders of Thoubal district block Congress Committee, were also present in the meeting.
