Landslide disrupts traffic along NH-2

Landslide near Senapati Bazar disrupted vehicular traffic along National Highway (NH) � 2 causing inconvenience to many transporters and passengers.
The landslide struck on Tuesday noon at Makhrelui Bazaar and Rikhumai Taphou in Senapati District HQ along NH-2 .
The landslide damaged two houses and around 100 metres of the NH-39.The landslide was caused by torrential rains over the last few days.
"On the first day of the rain, cracks started to appear on the NH-2 .

We informed the authorities about the situation but no actions were taken.
The landslide was caused due to stagnant drainage," said a woman from the affected area.
Deputy Commissioner Jacinta Lazarus; Superintendent of Police K Kabib; EE Dinesh, PWD-National Highway division-II; Senapati Town Committee President A John; SDSA and local bodies jointly inspected the site.
oon after the inspection, the DC instructed the PWD Division to begin the repair work.
Heavy machineries were engaged in clearing the highway.
Realigning the affected road stretch will be complete soon, said an official.
